Silent Scribbles

Improper Payments

The GAO (Government Accountability Office) found in FY 2024, $168 BILLION was made in improper payments to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. 84% of those payments were overpayments.

Since 20023, it is estimated that $2.3 TRILLION was made in overpayments to these three organizations.

The GAO was not formed by any one party and is not under the control of a political party. The GAO was formed in 1921 by the Budget & Accounting Act of 1921. So it has been around for over 100 years.
